Dinosaur eggs millions of years old, a mysterious mermaid, the only flightless parrot species, and an antique VR headset… In the Room of Wonder at Museum Kasteel Wijchen, you’ll discover a magical mix of strange objects, clever inventions, rare natural treasures, and unique art treasures.
For centuries, people have been collecting things they find beautiful, strange, or special. This led to the creation of “Wunderkammers” in the sixteenth century: the predecessors to today’s museums. Step into the collector’s “Wunderkammer” at Museum Kasteel Wijchen, featuring remarkable objects from the past and collections from the present. Look around and be amazed!
Meet some collectors and discover why they collect. What do you collect? Pokémon cards, stamps, or shells? Bring a small object (max. 18(h) x 13(w) x 7 (d) cm), leave it behind, and help our Room of Wonder grow!
